I've getting lots of Kernel32.DLL errors lately. (My
Norton Antivirus is currently plagued by one and is not
working). The one that's currently causing me a huge
problem (as I have a paper due on Monday) occurs when I
try to open Microsoft Word. I'm running Word 2000 SR-1 on
Windows ME. When I try to open Word, I get the error
message "Winword.exe has caused an error in Kernel32.DLL"
I looked around at the other messages and saw a lot of
people referred to
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm
So I went there and tried to see if the problem was with
template corruption. I renamed normal.dot normal.old as
instructed and then tried to open Word. It opened. Then
I closed it and tried to open it again and got the same
error. I went back and had a normal.dot file again.
Every time I rename it, it opens, but when I close it and
try to reopen it, the same error appears, as does another
normal.dot.
This very well may be the root of the problem, but I'm at
a loss as to how to fix it. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you!
