Winword.exe error when not connected to network

I have two user IDs on my laptop (Windows 2000). One userID runs Word (2000
SR-1) fine. When I run Word from the other and I am connected it works fine,
but when I am NOT connected to my local network, I get a massage saying
"Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will
need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

I have tried numerous things including (1) copying the Templates\Normal.dot
file for the good userID to the Templates directory for the erroring userID
(2) installing a "dummy" local printer and setting it to the default (my
normal printeris on the network). The <user>...\STARTUP directory is empty
for both users.

This is definitely a user-specific problem. Any ideas???
Also, where is the error log generated?

Have you got a local printer driver installed? For more information see
