winword.exe error

In Word 2000, I get the message, "winword.exe has generated an error, and will be closed." I only get this message when I click on the tools menu. I have removed my software and reload. It still occurs. Please help.

Here are a few different methods that have resolved this problem in the past:

1) May be a profile issue. Create a new profile and test to see if the problem reoccurs.

2) Close apps, rename normal.dot, launch Word.

3) Download a generic printer driver, then set as default, test to see if the problem went away.
