Winword.exe fault

Winword.exe generates a fault when you try to open word
clicking on the icon the message reports trying to open a
file with " (a box symbol) which I would assume, that is
a null symbol. If you go to an old file you can open word.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can you include the complete details of the error message?
(ie. WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in module xxxxxx at xxxxx)
