WINWORD.EXE generates error log when Tools menu is clicked

All suggestions and help will be greatly appreciated - (using Office 2000
Professional) when a WORD.doc is open and when clicking on the tools menu
(left click) the message "WINWORD.EXE has generated errors and will be closed
by windows....You will need to restart the program.......An error log is
being created" message appears after which the opened WORD.doc is immediately
closed without any chance to save. I believe I noticed this problem after
installing Norton System Works 2006 about 30 days ago. Have run several
registry repair programs including latest PC Tools version and problem
remains. Reloaded Office 2000 Professional and problem remains. All MS
updates, patches and security are current.

Mr. Zhai, Since I posted this problem a few days ago Iwas successful in
resolving by performing a search using Google. The problem appears to reside
or is intiated when moving between netwok printers etc. In my particular case
I had one network printer set as the default printer and then changed the
setting to a different default printer. When assigning the second printer as
default the problem surfaced. The Google search after much narrowing and
trying to sort out cryptic comments proposed setting another printer as the
default (now 3rd printer or could have used the 1st printer again) and then
swithcing back to the original second printer as default. This did
successfully work right away. I set first printer back to the default printer
and sure enough had no problem w/ error message being invoked. Next, I set
the second printer to default and again, no error message invoked when
word.doc open and clicking on tools. Problem did not have anything to do w/
Symantec. Please try this and let me know if this works.

Best Regards
