Winword.exe hangs at XP logout

Since our office upgraded to Office 2007, we are getting winword.exe errors
at logout on several machines. I understand that Outlook 2007 uses Word 2007
as its default email editor and that's why winword.exe is open; however, does
anybody know a way to make XP ignore that open file and logout?

Any help appreciated!

Look for 3rd party addins that are prohibiting Outlook/Word from closing
properly.
