Whenever I click on TOOLS|ENVELOPES and LABELS|ADDRESS BOOK Icon Word 2000
crashes and I get the above message...

DrWatson log says this:
Application exception occurred:
App: (pid=1968)
When: 12/30/2004 @ 10:14:10.379
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

Does anyone know how to eleimante this hassle?

Thanks!

Robb

This is often a symptom of a corrupt printer driver. Try deleting and
reinstalling the printer.

Thanks TF, but which one should get re-installed? I have an HP PSC 1110
all-in-one installed, Adobe PDF, WinFax, and HP 812C on the network...

Whichever is your normal Windows Default printer.

Well, I tried that and it had NO EFFECT whatsoever...any other thoughts are
appreciated!

One other possibility is that the temp folder is full of abandoned temp
files. This occasionally causes problems. With all Apps closed, the temp
folder should be empty: if it isn't, delete all the contents. Test again.

Thank you, but I struck out again...nothing changed, still getting the same
error...wish I could say otherwise!

If you start Word in Safe Mode using the /a switch, does it still happen.
Use Start, Run and type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word will start in Safe Mode: test now.

I'm out of ideas other than hosing it completely - use the eraser2000.exe -
and do a fresh Office install. I don't normally recommend this route as 99%
of the time it does resolve it - but desperation is setting in!

Terry

: Yes, it generates the same problem...BUMMER!!!

Terry, you have been a big help, but I have no clue what "eraser2000.exe
is"....where would I get it?

Thanks,

Robb

R

RobbL

Thank you for the help, but having done the eraser2k trip, it totally messed
things up...now I have an additional problem with MS PhotoEditor not being
able to read jpgs any longer...can't open any pics at all becuase it
defaults to "all files" as *.tif, and a jpg tries to be opened as
abc.jpg.tif....something is really messed up for sure...got any ideas on
that one now?

G

garfield-n-odie

If you uninstalled Office 2000 and then ran eraser2k.exe, you shouldn't
even have Photo Editor on your computer anymore. Of course, if you did
not follow the eraser2k.exe instructions that explicitly say to
uninstall Office 2000 first, then that might explain why everything
seems messed up.

R

RobbL

No, no, I did exactly what the instructions said and removed everything in
Office first, then ran Eraser...then I re-installed Office2K and then
installed MS Photo Editor (which I use) but that's when the new problem
began.

Assuming that I did what I was supposed to do, why is Ms PhotoEditor all
messed up now too? (BTW, we never solved the problem with the Address Book
crashing WORD yet either)

G

garfield-n-odie

Normally, Photo Editor is installed automatically when you install
Office 2000. Not sure why it was necessary to install Office 2000, and
then install Photo Editor separately. Maybe you have two instances of
Photo Editor on your computer now? Sorry, I don't know a thing about
Address Book because I don't use it.

R

RobbL

My Version of Office 2000 (Professional) has 2 CDs....are you saying I
should have removed both of those and not just CD1 using the Eraser2K??
