winword.exe usage 100% CPU

Hello,

I'm having an issue. When using Word 2000 (9.0.4402 SR-1) for large
text documents, the cpu usage rockets up to 100% (winword.exe). My OS
is XP Pro Version 5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600. I looked in the system
info for Word itself, and it says its Version 9.0, Build 6926.

Does anyone know of a fix for this? I operate with large text
documents quite a lot and can't afford to turn off a spell check or
not run any find/searches within the documents. Any help would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks!
