"Winword has caused an error" (Word 2000)

I am getting the message: "Winword has caused an error in
Winword.exe. Winword will now close. If you continue to
experience problems try restarting your computer."

Restarting my computer does not help; I still get the same
message, and connot use Word 2000 (SR-1).

Word 2000 came with my 2-year old IBM NetVista A21i PC,
and I cannot find any CDs with MS Office applications on
them.

HELP!

I have the same problem and have not been able to solve it - but if you click on 'start' then 'run' and type 'winword /a' in the box you will get a box with your name on it - click ok twice and it should open word - it works for me anyway. Don't forget there is a space between 'd' and '/' it is important
