Winword opens minimized

M

Microsoft

I have MSOfficePro 2003 and WinXP, all updates installed. (Swedish language
editions).
Suddenly my Winword started opening minimized (icon and files) and can't be
opened normally visible at all. All other office programs open normally.
Removing and reinstalling doesn't fix the problem.
Now I have to use OpenOffice Write to be able to work with my word-files.
How can I fix the problem?

Right-click on the launch button and select Properties. Under RUN on the
Shortcut tab, change the setting from 'Normal Window' to 'Maximized.

Are you openning Word using that shortcut, if not, how are you opening Word?

Same result, however I open it.
Word is visible on start-up menu, but clicking, right or left, doesn't give
any menu,
Task manager shows that winword.exe has started, but it must be stopped
there. No response from the program. Next time Word is starting in safe mode
but only once.
The problem persists.

I think that I am confused by your question then. It opens, but do you mean
minimised or do you mean it is invisible (i.e.. off screen)?

If you mean it is invisible, open Word and open another application. Then
when both are open (check in Task Manager if needed), right-click on the
Taskbar and choose Cascade Windows. Now Word will come back into view. Close
the other applications that are open and then adjust the minimised position
of Word and then Maximise it. All should now be OK.

The problem is curious.
When word or doc-file is started, it minimizes on Start-bar as a button. An
error sound can be heard. That button is completely dead. It doesn't react
on any clicking. Task manager shows that Word is running and it can be
stopped only there. A message appears showing that Word has stopped
responding. Next time starting Word, safe mode is suggested and then it
really starts correctly, in safe mode. And after that it is minimized again.
We have several clients and they work fine.
That single client seems to be hostile to Word.

Thank you for yor advice.
winword.exe /a really starts Word.
I've now emptied Word startup-files and cleaned the registry.
Now I manage to open Word but a warning pops up: a macro is trying to be
started but I have no support for the macro script.
It is adviced to lower the security level from high.
The pop up windows requires 4 clicks to shut down it.
Lowering security level doesn't stop the warning window at Word start.
I try to find more help ID 10114 but no more is available for this error
message.
I can't find those disturbing macros anywhere. What could it be?
