Winword will not start w/o /a

R

Ralph Sumway

Suddenly , winword will not start without the /a switch.
This is Office 2000 on Windows 2000. I've reinstalled and
upgraded to SP1 for O2k. Is there some sort of startup
file that may need replacing?

The /a switch is just a diagnostic (see "WD2002: What Does the Word Startup
Switch "/a" Really Do?" at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=291487). If
Word runs correctly with this switch, that points to problems with
Normal.dot, the Registry, or an add-in. See
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm for other
suggestions.
