Winword XP while Saving Document. the program exists abnormally

Getting a problem while using the SAVE AS command in
WinWORD XP.

Clicking on the File-SAVE AS option in Winword we should
be prompted with apopup window to type the name of the
file; but many many times when "save as
" is clicked the the programs EXITS and I lose all the
information that was recently typed in the document.

This happens many times especially when i start the
Winword for the first time.

Can't seem to recitfy the problem, but having increased
the time for AUTOSAVE to protect my document.

I am avoiding reinstalling the XP OFFICE for the time
being.
