winXP Outlook Visual C++ runtime error bug - NIS - (fix not known)

This is the issue many of us seem to be having with Outlook crashing with a
"visual c++ runtime error". About have of the reports here say they are for
systems that are running NIS 03 or 04 and the other half don't say. Sorry,
I don't have the answer. I have seen some post here that seem to say that
disabling email scanning will fix the problem. It does not do so on my
system. Disabling NIS/NAV also does not fix the problem. Uninstalling NIS
does cause the problem to go away.

I received an email from Symantec support two days ago that said that they
had not been able to duplicate the error as of this point in time.

I have been able to do so very easily in a minimum set of software. The
test system is a Dell 8250. The test system is not connected to any LAN
(internet or otherwise).

1) Format bootable partition
2) Install WinXP (Dell OEM WinXP Pro. This OEM version includes SP-1) (three
accounts, plus admin and guest; "fast" login disabled.)
3) Install Windows Office XP Small Business 2002 (all except MS Publisher")
4) Install Office XP 2002 SP1
5) activate Office (via phone, not modem or lan)
6) verify Outlook working okay
7) Install NIS 2004 (no activation, used "15 day trial")
8) verify Outlook bug was present.

If you wish to contact me on this subject, I can be reached at
(e-mail address removed). My email address does not have the letter m in it.
Delete all m's from the above address.

If someone has an answer... please email me!!!
