WinXP reboots during drag & drop into Word XP

In my home office I'm running a new install of WinXP Pro
with Office XP Pro (both activated and fully patched as of
August 9th).
Yesterday, I dragged an email at the office (Outlook97)
onto a flash drive and then to my desktop at home.
When I attempted to drag the email from the desktop into a
Word document, the system instantly rebooted. I got the
same result on the second attempt.

Any ideas?
