Wireless remote mouse XP issue

J

John Cummuta

I just bought a new laptop for presentations with XP Pro
OS and XP Office. I have an Atek wireless mouse with a
USB receiver that's plug and play (no drivers to load).

Anyway, this wireless remote worked perfectly with PPT
2000 on a Windows 98/Pentium II platform. Every click of
the advance button dutifully moved to the next point in
the presentation.

However, since I've upgraded to a Pentium M with XP Pro
and Office XP (PPT 2002), I'm experiencing weird and
unpredictable wireless mouse operation. The first four or
five times I click the advance button, the slide will
advance correctly (albeit sometimes slightly delayed by a
half beat), but then I'll hit three dead clicks in a row
before the presentation begins advancing for the next
four or five clicks, where I hit another three dead
clicks, before the presentation works again.

Anyone got a clue?
