Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I was fortunate enough to work with Entourage Web Services since the public beta, but now that a final version is out in the wild, we are now noticing issues that really need to be taken care of.
To get compatibility issues out of the way, all of these reports involve EWS version 13.0.3 connecting to Exchange 2007 running the latest service pack.
1. While category synching is finally supported in calendars, it is not supported if the calendar is being accessed by a delegate. In those instances, Entourage behaves as it did before, ignoring category selection and passing the information to the exchange with "none" in the category.
2. Mail sent from Entourage will not synch properly to the sent items folder on the exchange. It will appear for a few minutes in Outlook Web Access and does not synch at all to other devices. Then after a few minutes the sent item disappears, leaving the only copy of the message in the local folder of the computer from which it was sent.
3. If a contact that has only a company name is imported from some other application, the contact does not have a "Display as" field, and as such does not get displayed at all in EWS. Curiously, Entourage 12 does not have an issue with these contacts.
4. Custom fields in Entourage contacts do not synch to OWA or Outlook clients. They onyl synch to other Entourage clients.
To be fair, EWS is a vast improvement over version 12. It synchs a lot faster, and has fewer synch problems. It just needs a few more features to make it more perfect. Might we see this happen without having to wait for Outlook 2010?
