With Norton Firewall/security enabled, can't send/receive email

I cannot send/receive email with Outlook 2003 if I have Norton Security /
Firewall enabled. Is there a patch or something to repair this?

is it configured to allow outlook.exe - if so, is it allowing the same
version?

are you using it to scan email? if so, disable that feature.
