With original disks, I cannot load Update #3. Data1.msi?

I cannot update my MS Office 2000. Although original disks are in hand, it
continues to ask for the 'Premium' disks. I can find the data1.msi file on
the disk, but it continually tells me that it's not a valid installation
package. HELP PLEASE!

Hi Ralph,

If the name of the CD in the 'Use feature from' box on
the installer is the same as the name on the face of the
CD then you may have a damaged download or a corrupted install.
Can you run Detect & repair successfully in Word 2000?

Hello Bob, First - thank you for trying to help me. Second - no, I cannot
use the Detect & Repair feature as it's not loaded. When I tryed to load it,
the same msgs appear that tell me I don't have a valid installation pkg.
"Can't find the data1.msi file". I'm at wits end trying to update and will
greatly appreciate any further suggestions. Thank you. Ralph

Hi Ralph,

You sometimes get this issue with Office 2000 if
either (a) there is more than one edition of Office 2000
listed in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel
or (b) MS Works Suite has also been installed.

In some cases you need to uninstall Works then reinstall
Office, but you may want to use the MS Installer cleanup utility
on Office then restart the PC and reinstall.

Check first though in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows
Control panel to see what 2000 series apps are installed.
Data1.msi is different for each 2000 product but the
name was the same on each 2000 series product CD#1.
