Without Binder, Doc library?

I am trying to create a set of document components, wherein users can choose
sections of a larger document to create a single, customized final document
depending on which components they need. I imagine this could be
accomplished with Binder, but we are all in XP and we won't be installing
older versions of Office in this environment. Besides, the support for
Binder is being dropped.

Does anyone know of any way at all to accomplish this, aside from having to
develop an active document container in VB or Visual C++? It's not worth it
for me to spend so much time developing an application for this.

I think you will want to investigate the IncludeText field. See

I'll try this. I am looking into the Keylogix ActiveDocs application that
integrates with Word, but management is severely allergic to buying new
licenses.
