WM Player 10 does not play demos

Windows Media Player 10 does not play any demos on the Microsoft Office
Assistance Demos. I have tried all possible troubleshooting tips, KB's and
Forums, even reinstalled the Device, to no avail whatsoever. I have no
problems playing or streaming anything else on it.

On clicking "See the Demo", it opens a page and subsequebtly theWM Player
and closes it. All this takes place lightning fast and reverts to "See the
Demo" without any tell tale message.

Do you have the ActiveX control? Can you view the training courses?
If you do not download the ActiveX control, you will not be able to automatically
download clip art and media or templates on Office Online, and you will not be able
to do practice sessions in the online training courses on Office Online.

Hi Mary Sauer,

Thanks for your response. Yes I have Active X installed and enabled. The
Browser is set at medium security. I can see or open all other MS Tutorials
etc, but it's only these Demos at:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/assistance/CH011218821033.aspx : which the
WM Player cannot open or does not enable viewing these as it just shuts down
instantly without even saying why.

Might inquire on a Media Player newsgroup. Is your Media Player your default player?

The above will setup your newsreader to read the Microsoft newsgroups.

Look in your objects folder, if there are any unknown or damaged files, delete them.
In Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options, view settings button, view objects,
you might have to view, details.
Empty your cache, in IE, tools, Internet Options, delete files.

There were no damaged classes; updated all before quitting. Cleaned out
cookies and all Temporary Internet Files (there weren't many, being purged
regularly). WM Player continues not to respond to streaming the Demos.

Yes, Media Player is my default player. I have several others installed, I
use Winamp
sometimes. I also tried accessing the Demos with other players - also
negative !
