.wma Background Music

I have been tricking my MP3 files by converting them with CDex. It imbeds
the file fine and works. The problem is that the file is still the same size
as the original MP3. Question:
Can I convert MP3's to .WMA and embed them in that it appears that .WMA
files are smaller in size? Also any reccomendatioiins on a conversion
program if this would work.

You can't embed wma. If the mp3 file is too big, one way you can do it to
re-convert it into lower quality (e.g. From 192 kbit/s to 128 kbit/s)

Thanks for your quick response - Do you mean re-convert the MP3's? And how
do I do that? All my music is MP3 and generally my presentation is too large
for e-mail even after I used CDex for embedding the backgorund music.
Also - when I add (insert) sounds from a file, Power Point does show .wma as
an option along with about 25 other extensions???

Firedog,

As a rule, video and audio files are too large to go through most ISPs email
systems. Have you considered using one of the many "large email" services
out there?

You will need to search for mp3 convertor or mp3 compressing software through
search engines. Here's one example which seems to do the job (haven't tried
it though):

Only wav file can be embedded. If you insert music with extension such as
..wma, they can only be linked. If you are thinking of linking the music (such
as .wma) instead, there will be a risk of links breaking. To avoid this

I've been using CDex and it puts a "header" or something on my MP3 and Power
Point then treats it like .wav file and it does embed it. The problem is that
it is still the same size as the original MP3. I am trying to makes the
imbedded sound smaller in size. Maybe there is a way to make the MP3 smaller
before I use CDex on it??

Where do I find one and if the recepient doesn't have the same can they
receive a file in the 8 / 9 meg size or will their isp kick it out?

To make mp3 smaller, you will need to compress them using mp3 compressing
software such as the one on this site:
http://www.blazemp.com/compress_mp3_files.htm.
I haven't tried it so far, so I can't tell you how well the result is. One
thing though, compressing the mp3 and making it smaller means that the
quality will also be lower. Hence, you might want to follow Austin's
suggestion by using "large email" services, or upload your file to free
hosting services such as FileFront (See the above post for link).

mp3's and wma files of the same bit rate eg 96 bps are actually the same
size. wma files will usually sound better though so a lower bit rate is
possible

There's no way to embed wma files. Have you tried reducing the mp3 bit rate
and going to mono. Otherwise as others have said use an ftp service
