Won't initialize - (0xc0150002) - Cross post

When I try to start any Office apps, I get the following: "The application
failed to initialyze properly (0xc150002). Click on OK to terminate the
application."

I can't start any Office app.

Started as follows: Downloaded SP2 by mistake, and computer hung on
rebooting. MS tech led me through a Windows "repair," which took me back to
SP1.

Now, on booting up, I get weird Windows Installer problems which I'm getting
under control I think.
But that's when this Office problem started.

Any suggestions?
(FWIW, after getting back to SP1, I downloaded all "critical updates" from
Windows Update.)
