Won't let me create a hierarchy by dragging shapes onto manager

In an organizational chart in Visio 2003, it will not change the reporting to
when I drop a position onto a manager. Also, it won't let me change the
position type to anything else. I created it and own the file. Is it
corrupted?

The first thing to check is if automation events have been turned off. Go to
Options on the Tools menu. Click the Security tab in the Options dialog box.
See if the "Enable automation events" checkbox is checked. If it isn't,
check it. Then, close out of your organization chart drawing and reopen it.
