Won't "Paste" from other programs

Word 2001 for mac

Hi

Today word refuses to paste from programs other than itself, including:

Internet Explorer for Mac
Outlook Express
Simpletext
Webster's Dictionary

It will only copy/paste from one word document to another.

I've never had this happen before.
