won't save after modifying form

I have a simple database built in ACCESS 2007. Only have 1 table, 4 forms and
some queries, reports. This database has been in use for over a month and has
had no problems with users entering data, running reports, etc. Now I need to
add a new field to the table and a corresponding field to the data entry
form. I am able to add the field to the table, I go to design view in the
form, select add existing fields, select the field, format the field and
click save, then close and ACCESS will ask to I wish to save the changes to
the design of the form frmAppointeeDataEntry?

If I click yes, nothing happens

any thoughts?

permissions are all set to allow anything for me, I'm the administrator of
the database.

Hi, I just came across this topic and have the same problem with forms, and
also with reports. If the wizard or autoreport make the report, it will not
save. I click 'save' or ctl-s etc., it acts like it saves, but there's
nothing saved. If I make a report from scratch in design, it works.

I've compacted and repaired many times, copied objects to a new db, exported
the table to Excel then imported into a new db, no help.

The main table does have mixed languages - English and Ukrainian - both in
field names and data. The data is all text fields, except for the autonumber
ID and a yes/no.

I don't know what or where m.p.a.queries is?

Hi Allen,

Thanks for the link and ideas. I tried them all, but no luck (although some
months ago the Name Autocorrect problem your website explains *really* helped
me with another db, thanks!).

Autoreport will work with another table, but not the main table (will act as
if it saves, but won't save or close the report).

I made a new db, turned off Name Autocorrect, imported the main table via
Excel, same problem. I tried to export the main table to a text file (to
then import it into a new db), but Access says that "the table is read-only"
or "cannot find file All#txt" (the table is name "All") and the
export-to-text fails.

I tried deleting most all the data (it has 1000 records, with about 30
fields of text mostly at 255 size), deleting the fields, changing the
remaining names and info to English only, same problem.

This is real confusing. Any other ideas about how I could move the
Ukrainian data cleanly into a clean db?

I just tried something else. Some of the field names are in English, some in
Ukrainian. I changed them to all English, and forms and reports worked. I'd
like to keep the mix of languages, but is this a regular problem for Access
table design?

Jerry, I really don't have experience in languages other than English, but
there are issues with some characters and # could be one of them.

Similarly, there are characters that have special meaning, such as:
- the list separator ,
- the date separator /
- the decimal character .

Several years ago, Michael Kaplan wrote a book on Internationalization with
Visual Basic. Not sure if you can still get it, but if you are stuggling
with VBA code, it might help. More info:

Thanks again, Allen! I'll check out the book. My problem must be some
combination of mixed languages and the special characters you mention,
because they're in the field names and data.
