wont stop thinking/loading

HELP!! I was working away on a word document and all of a sudden the circle
starts swirling like it's "thinking" or "loading" something. I cant get it
to stop nor can I work or SAVE my document AHHHHH!!! How do I get the
rainbow to stop swirling so I can keep working and not lose this document!

If necessary, terminate the Word session via Task Manager, and then use Open
and Repair to see if Word can fix the document.
