Woord 2007 pasting "issues"

I am pasting some text from one word 2007 document into another. The
source is formatted as Times 12, and the destination has all Times
font, some 12, some 10. When I paste, it ALWAYS pastes as Callibri 11.
I have changed the styles/defaults settings to always paste as times
12, but every time I start up the program again, it changes back those
settings. I have changed paste settings to match destination.

My first question is the obvious - why word word change the font style
and size from the source AND the destination. This just seems
ridiculous. I want to be able to hit control C/V; paste special is too
cumbersome.

My second question is, is there some setting I am missing, or is word
just gotten too smart (insistent) for me? I don't recall ever having
this issue with W2003

thanks

Calibri is (for some utterly inexplicable reason) the default text
font in 2007. I wonder if you (sensibly) got away from it by simply
selecting your text and changing it to to Times, instead of changing
it in the basic paragraph style (probably Normal) that you use.

It sounds as if you are using manual formatting in your document and that the
style of your text is normal. The font for the normal style as-delivered is
Calibri. If that is true then here's your fix:
W2007 gives you quite a bit of control over how text is pasted. Go to the
Office button > Options > Advanced. The selection in the d dropdown box next
to "Pasting between documents" probably says "Use destination styles (default)
". Click the arrow to the right of the words and choose "Match destination
formatting".

Note that you could also choose "keep source formatting" and "text only".
If you also revise documents formatted with styles, you may want to change
setting this back to the default.
