Word 03 conversion to PDF failures

Conversion to pdf files from word fails at least 50% of time. One of the
following usually happens:
1) Adobe freezes completely. Have to reboot system
2) Word doc appears to have converted but Adobe never opens, screen reverts
back to Word and ruler has changed from inches to picas

Don't have any special fonts installed. Happens on small and large docs.

Any thoughts on why and how to fix?

I'd suspect the Adobe add-in is not up to date. Check with Adobe for the
latest update for using with Office 2003.
