word 03 decimal tab for text after numbers

P

paul13

I want the numbers of the list to be lined up on the left, as is default.
What I would like to do is make the tab that comes after the numbering, that
determines where the text of the list is going to start to be a decimal tab.
Is it possible to do this?

I would like my list to look like this

1. 12.44
2. 345.09
3. .989
4. 45.66666

but where the decimals line up exactly.

Thanks,

Paul

I'd probably use a nx2-table for that: "numbering" numbers in the first
and the rest in the second column, where you can use a decimal tab, maybe.

I wouldn't say there's no other way (in Word, that'd usually be wrong
:)), but it seems simple enough.

By which I assume you mean a decimal tab *stop*. You'll also need to delete
the left tab stop that Word automatically inserts (there's a Compatibility
Option for that), or, if you're using an outline numbered list, choose to
follow the number with "nothing" instead and then insert a tab character
manually.
