word 07 can't send files with attachments

For some reason the option to send an email from FILE>SEND>EMAIL
is grayed out. Can anyone advise why this is a problem. I was trying to send
the
file I was working on by email the way I used to in word 2000 and it dosen't
work.

Outlook? Maybe there's a registry hack to enable it though.

Ahhh, what a difference a couple of digits make

Outlook Express runs through version 6.00.xxx
rebranded 'MS Windows Vista Mail' takes over as 6.06

First, check in Powerpoint 2007. Are you able to send with attachments from there? If so, see if making the changes in the registry
in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918792?FR=1
give you the
Office Button=>Send
as attachment feature.

The Windows Mail version apparently isn't able to support the mail interface to MS Office 2007 to be able to send a Word document
from within Word.
