Word 07: configuration process

When I run Word 2007 (H&S), it goes into a configuration process that
takes a few minutes. Can this be obviated.

Also, right after installation, I was given three options, and I chose
all three (had to do with reporting issues, etc.). This may be slowing
down the application. How can I change those choices.

Do you have an earlier version of Word installed as well? If yes, see

The three settings you selected shouldn't have any impact on
performance. You can get to them via Office button, Word options, Trust
Center, Trust Center Settings, Privacy Options.
