Word 07 New Document UI looks like previous versions

When I open a template in Word 07, I still get the "look" of 2003 -- tabbed
categories and icons. The templates are new (Oriel, Origin, etc.) but the
interface is old. I work in a classroom setting and the textbook
illustrations and steps do not match the what's on the screen. Help!

Are you referring to the File New dialog box? How are you accessing it? Are
you clicking the Microsoft Office Button and then clicking New? Are you
clicking a button that has been added to the Quick Access Toolbar?

I click on the Office Button then New. This happens in Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint. Thanks.

Does it occur if you start Word in Safe Mode? Hold Ctrl while starting Word.
Continue holding Ctrl until you are prompted to start in Safe Mode.

It works in Safe Mode!!!! Starting in Safe Mode also resolved another
problem I am having with clip art. I couldn't access most of the library and
the "clip art Office Online" is not available.

If it works in Safe Mode then there is an add-in customizing the interface.
Since you are in a classroom setting I'd get with the IT staff and find out
why they have Office set up this way.
