Word 08 crashes consistently using Spell & Grammar checker

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have tried large and small documents (10 page), and during spell and grammer check, it crashes while I'm making corrections. I have 4 gig of ram, and nothing else running. I need to finish my work. Thanks, Tom

Consistent and reproducible problems in Word usually respond to one of
the standard troubleshooting measures, which you will find listed here:

http://word.mvps.org/Mac/TroubleshootingIndex.html

Work through them one by one until something helps. If nothing does,
post back. The most common culprit is a corrupted Normal template or
damaged Preferences file.
