Word 2000 and Embedded pictures

When I try to insert a picture from clipart, or any object
for that matter, into my word program, all that shows up
is: {embed Microsoftworks...}
When i follow the help, I do what it suggests, but it
tells me to make sure the "display as an icon" button is
clicked off, but it already is!

I am going insane...does anyone know how to fix it?

If yr using MSWorks, try ms.public.works.win ng

Hi Claudia,

What you are seeing is the field code rather than the result of the field code. Press Alt + F9 to toggle off the display.

Also note, for future Word questions you may want to post in one of the Word newsgroups. I suspect you would have received a faster response on this question (minutes) had you originally posted in a Word ng. Otherwise around here you have to wait for someone who knows about Word to come along and that could be days.
