Word 2000 and OneNote 2003 SP1 Outlining Question

Greg Burlile

I'm trying to copy and paste from Word 2000 into OneNote 2003 SP1 the following text:

--- Here's what it looks like in Word 2003

1. The Core Themes of the Pentateuch
The Pentateuch is the first 5 books of the Old Testament. It describes the formation of the people of God; and it tells us about the one true God, Yahweh. The core themes found there continue throughout the rest of the Old Testament and on into the New Testament and beyond.

1.1. God's Promise to Abraham and His Descendents
1.1.1. God promised Abraham descendents, land, and blessing. (Gen 12:1-3)

1.2. God's Election (Choosing) of a People for Himself
1.2.1. Exodus 1-15 tells the story of election and deliverance of Israel.

1.2.2. God chose them to be the people through whom He would make his name known in the earth

WHEN I PASTE IT INTO ONENOTE HERE'S WHAT I GET....

WHY DOES THE OUTLINE NUMBER SCHEME GET LOST???? (E.G. 1., 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2 etc)

I should have said "Here's what it looks like in Word 2000" - sorry about that.

Any takers on this! I really can use the help on this problem.

Greg, I don't have a solution for you, but OneNote was designed primarily to
work with Office 2003's family of products. On a Tablet PC, there isn't
even support for Ink prior to Office XP (2002 versions), and that's only
with a Tablet Add-on Pack to enable certain aspects. You don't say what
operating system you're on, however a reach back to the 2000 version of an
Office program is really quite a long way in terms of how files are handled.

Chris,

Thanks for your reply. I am using XP for my operating system.

I have a related question that doesn't relate to what version of Word I'm
using.

Can OneNote handle the type of outlining I'm wanting to do? If so I can't
figure it out.

I want to do something like this...

3.
3.1
3.2
3.2.1
3.2.2

Any help would be appreciated

Greg

Greg, rather than explain the structure here, take a look in OneNote's Help
for "outline" and you'll find a lot of helpful entries which should guide
you.
