Word 2000 changes color quality

Word 2000 colour quality problem

When I click on Office 2000 and then Word the screen goes black for about a
second and then the screen comes back in 8 bit color quality. When I quit
Word screen returns to its 32 bit color quality. This is only happening with
Word
