Word 2000/Compression of pictures

After I insert/crop/compress and delete left overs from cropped image, my
word file is still the same size. Why???

Because all you're doing is playing with how the picture is *displayed*.
Cropping doesn't remove any data from the file, just hides parts of it (try
uncropping it!). In any case, manipulating graphics within Word tends to
cause the file to bloat. Better to prepare and crop the image in a graphic
editor before importing to Word.
