Word 2000 crash

I have XP and MS Word 2000. I saved and closed a file, but when i re-opened
it, there were only boxes. Kind of like the ones when you write in MT Extra
Font. I really need to open this file, and I dont have time to re-write it
all. Does anyone have a way i can open this file.
