Word 2000 crashes on File->Save As

We have a few Word documents that we are getting the following error message
with when they are opened and a File->Save As is done, or when the doc is
edited and the File->Save is done, or when text is copied and then pasted.

The instruction at 0x3092bcfa referenced memory at 0x0000003a. The memory
could not be "read".

The were edited and saved successfully, but when re-opened they could not be
used.

No problem with other Word documents.
