Word 2000 crashes when i hit space bar

Word 2000 crashes everytime i hit the space bar...the
following is what iget when i look at the details

WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in
module MSO9.DLL at 0187:30a87cdc.

Hi Ray,

It sounds like you might have a corrupt printer driver. I would try installing a different default printer driver, something generic
such as a HP Laserjet 4. You don't have to be able to print to it we just want to test with it. After you install the printer and set
it as the default try hitting the space bar again. Do you still get the crash?

Hi Lisa,

I tried what you suggested, and it work one time
only..then boom it started again. I uninstalled the darn
thing 3 times, did the repair more times then i can count
and it still does it LOL Well I hope you have another
suggestion...i'm about ready to toss the whole thing out
the window..LOL and thankyou very much for you help so far

Hey Ray,

I know that this can be so frustrating

Try launching your machine in safe mode.

1. Restart your computer.

2. While your computer restarts, keep tapping the F8 key while the computer reboots

3. Select the Safe Mode menu option from the Startup menu, and then press ENTER.

Do you get the crash in safe mode?

Hey Lisa,

I put it in safe mode and tried it again...typed my first
name and hit the space bar and yes it crashed again. This
is very strange..worked fine for several months then this,
go figure LOL Again i wish to thank you for your time
with me and my problem : )

Hi Ray,

What you have described is an indication of either a:

- Problem with your Grammar checker or proofing tools
- Corrupt custom dictionary
or
- Corrupt AutoCorrect file

To troubleshoot first go to Tools/Options/Spelling and Grammar and
turn off "Check Spelling as you type" and "Check Grammar as you type".

Next if the problem still exists, locate your custom dictionary, the
file name is located on the Spelling and Grammar tab, rename it and
see if the problem reoccurs.

Last, go to Tools/AutoCorrect and turn off the "Replace text as you
type" option.

If you one of these to be the problem, post back and we'll go from
there.
