word 2000 crashes

Every times i tried to open Microsoft Word 2000, i have the following error
message:
Program error
Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will
need to restart the program.
An error log is being created.

I don't have this message if i double click on an existing file, but if i
click on new in the file menu Microsoft Word crash.

Can anybody help me find out what is going wrong?
