Word 2000 crashing because of Adobe Writer?

I have a Windows XP machine with Microsoft Word 2000 on it. It has
always worked fine, until a couple of days ago after I installed Adobe
Writer. Now whenever Word 2000 opens, it just crashes (it displays
that "we're sorry" dialog box with the option to send an error report).
The only recent change I believe I've made is the installation of
Writer. Has anyone run into this before?

I would appreciate any suggestions you could offer me in
troubleshooting this. Thanks in advance.

I should clarify: I installed Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.
