Word 2000 crashing my system

I have been using Word 2000 extensively over the past few
days to do evaluations for my students. It was working
perfectly. I was doing a lot of copying and pasting. I
don't know what happened, but all of a sudden it carshed
on me. Now, every time I double click on the Word 200
icon on my desktop or right click and try to open it, I
get a fatal exception error and my whole computer crashes.

I have completed evaluations for my students but I can't
get in to see them or check them.

Please help. What can I do to fix this problem??

I too am having the exact same problem. I have installed
all of the security updates.

It started over four weeks ago - before the msblast.exe
worm, which because I have Windows 98 wouldn't affect my
computer anyway. I tried accessing this url address and
got the follwoing message: "Error 404: The requested URL
/word/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm. was not found on
this server."

Any other suggestions?

Pete,
I am having the exact same problem. Everything else on my
PC works fine. This just started this week. Prior to that
Word ran fine. Word 2000 completely locks up my computer
when I try to open it. I have searched high and low for an
answer and cannot find one. If you find an answer, please
let me know. I will do the same for you.
