WORD 2000 -- Creating a Table "footing" row repeat???

J

JoAnn

Hi,
Does anyone know how to programmatically create a table
footer/footing that can repeat at the end of each page?

I would like to emulate Word's Table Heading Row repeat
functionality but with a preset table row at the bottom of
each page (still plan on using Heading row repeat for the
top).

I can't use the page footer since there is other
information that needs to always be there.

Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions you have!
JoAnn

Hi JoAnn,

Word doesn't have a facility of the kind you describe. I suspect that you'll
simply have to split the table and insert the footer row manually on each
page.

Thanks for your input. I considered that but since the
page breaks differently on different PCs/printers, I
wasn't sure if a combined forced page break (or keep table
together) & manually inserted table footer on each page
would ensure that it would always work as expected for
everyone. Plus, it seemed like a lot of work --- my docs
have lots of large tables that span across pages.

So, I was hoping for an easier solution that could be done
using VBA. Maybe to test for whatever criteria Word uses
to determine the bottom of the main document page (or to
determine when it needs to break a table to the next page)
and if that condition is true, allow enough space for a
predetermined footer and put that in before the break.

Thanks for your help,
JoAnn

Hi JoAnn

If you have a lot of long tables, then certainly a macro to automate the
process of breaking the tables would be a good idea. The Information
property of the Selection can be used to find out the vertical position of
the cursor relative to the top of the page, and you can use this information
to work out where to break the table.
