Hello all,
First, let me state what I'm expecting:
1) Is there a MS Word 2000 Fix for this? OR
2) If there isn't a hotfix, what workarounds can I use?
Environment:
----------------------
Windows 2000 SP4 and or 2003 SP1 Server
Windows XP SP2, Windows 2000 Pro
MS Office 2000 / Word 2000 SP3-a
1x HP LaserJet 4050 print device with PCL 5 and or 6
1x Lexmark T620 with PCL 5 and or PS (PostScript)
1x HP LaserJet 4M PCL 5
Issue:
-------------------
the basic issue is that an image (ie. taken from a screenshot) isn’t cropped
properly when it’s sent out the printer. I can only get it to reproduce on
Office 2000 SP3a and lower. In all my test cases I’ve been able to print the
document properly with Office XP/2K3 on any version of Windows.
A quick search on Google and apparently some printers seem to handle
cropping better then others:

Pros: prints beautifully
Cons: Does not print cropped pictures; high priced ink cartridges
I use Windows 98SE with Microsoft Word 2000
The first printer that I got it printed beatifully until I cropped a
picture. Then it wouldn't print the picture correctly. It would only print
the part I trimmed off not the image that was left in my preview window.
The second printer did the same thing plus I went to print a 10 page text
only word doc. First 3 pages were great then it started to print one line per
page. I shut off the printer, took it back to Staples, they gave me my money
back. Now I'm going to try the 1100d and see if it works better. ...
More Info:
--------------------
Ok so this doesn’t say all that much other then some drivers do a better job
of things, the interesting part about this is that Word 2003 and XP don’t
have the issue and I subsequently discovered that the output isn’t random;
it’s actually the inverse crop settings of what you’re expecting:
Example:
In the “Image Properties - Crop Tab†you can specify “From Top†and “From
Bottom; when I opened my test document the settings are 0.83 and 4
respectively: If you change this such that the value for top is 4 instead of
0.83 and the bottom is 0.83, you actually get the right output from the
printer. Although the image on the screen is not what I intended to crop...
Did I loose ya? Try it out and see...
In any case, this might be one of those situations where MS added something
to Office 2002 and 2003 to compensate for print drivers. I’m betting there
are some other printers out there that have the same problem. I'm really not
in a position to upgrade to XP or 2003 at this time, so I'm really hoping for
some direction to resolve this issue with MS Office/Word 2000 PLEASE
**OR**
At least lead me to an official public KB Article or MS TechNote or
somethind that Microsoft acknowledges this behavior and it is considered a
known issue. That way I can push for an upgrade to XP/2003 of Office
