Word 2000: Default document name problem

Since allowing my girlfriend to use my PC, MS Word 2000
now opens with document3 as the default document name,
instead of document1. I've searched for any "saved"
doc1.doc & document1.doc, but have found no such files on
my hard drive. I have found and deleted multiple
normal.dot files, but the problem remains. What causes
this, and how do I fix it?

Rebooting Windows usually takes care of this, but clearing out temp files
helps, too. See
