Word 2000 eps preview problem

K

kb

I have aproblem previewing inserted eps files.
All i can see is a message saying that no preview is
attached to the eps.

However I know there is as it works fine on another pc.

I've tried turning on the picture placeholder option but
it makes no difference.

I'm running win XP sp1 and word 2000 sp3.
The eps graphics filter is also installed so i know thats
ok.

Other image files seem to preview ok.The eps was created
in photoshop

thanks.

I posted a message "Any version of Word with Display PostScript" that may be
of interest. (It should have had a question mark.)

I've heard that this is true. If so, perhaps the file does not have a preview
and the Display PostScript is not working on one machine. If it is NOT true,
then I have no immediate solution.

G'day "kb" <[email protected]>,

EPS are not supported natively by word, it depends on what OLE drivers
have been installed by other applications.

Quoting Bob Buckland in a nearby thread:

On the Windows versions of Word, Microsoft changed to GDI+
starting with Word 2002. EPS graphics in Word 2002 and
Word 2003 render the EPS rather than the preview.
No specific version of Windows is needed.

No, it depends on whether you've installed the EPS graphics filter.

I started playing around making my own eps from
illustrator. As far as i can see Word displays the preview
only if I save it a a 1bit ibm preview.Thing is the 1bit
previews look awful.

So the specific problem is that Word will not display an
8bit preview. All the designers use eps files so it's not
really practical for this one person to start using
emf/wmf.

Previews always look awful in older versions, although in new versions of
Word, they can display EPS files well. This was posted by Bob Buckland in a
reply to an earlier post I had made:
