Word 2000 error message

When I try to open WORD I get the error message "This
program has performed an illegal operation. If this
problem persist contact the program vendor" When I click
details I get the following:

module WINWORD.EXE at 0187:303e4fbd.

I have deleted and reinstalled Word but the problem
persists. Anyone have any ideas?
