Hi
I have Office 2000 installed on Windows XP.
I recently installed OmniPage15 and found that Word would no longer open
without getting the following error:
"Microsoft Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close"
As a consequence, I uninstalled OmniPage, but this did not fix the problem.
I then tried the following:
1. Ran the repair function in office
2. Removed office, rebooted and reinstalled via the CD
3. Removed office via Add & remove programs, rebooted and reinstalled Office
via the CD
4. Ran Winword.exe /RegServer (to try and reregister in the registry)
5. Strarted Word holding down Ctrl (which I believe starts it in Safe Mode)
although no option to select safe mode is given.....maybe that doesn't apply
to the 2000 version??
6. Ran System restore from a period pre problem
None of these options has fixed the problem.
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?
The error message reveals:
AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 9.0.0.2717 ModName: mso9.dll
ModVer: 9.0.0.2720 Offset: 00082f4e
I also tried renaming the mso9.dll file and running Word without success.
