Word 2000 File lost Format when opened in 2003

We have a critical file that lost formating when opened in 2003
Any Tips?

I assume you were not using the "Recover Text from Any File" setting in the
File Open dialog?

No we did not use that. The file was opened normally.

Don't save it in Word 2003 with the lost formatting except under a different
name.

Under Tools > Templates and Add-Ins, is the box checked to update styles
from the template? If so, reopen on the original computer and uncheck this
box.

What do you mean when you say it lost formatting?
